FAQ

Do I need an Intermediate licence first?
Yes — via the standard three-tier route. You must hold a valid UK Amateur Radio Intermediate Licence before sitting the Full exam. Alternatively, there is a Direct to Full route that does not require Foundation or Intermediate — this course covers the standard three-tier Full exam only.
Is this an official RSGB course?
No — this is an independent exam preparation course. It covers the RSGB Combined Syllabus v1.6b (valid from 1 April 2025) at Full licence level to help you prepare for the official exam. Not affiliated with the RSGB or Ofcom.
How is the Full licence exam structured?
58 multiple-choice questions, each with four options. You need 35 correct answers to pass (60%). The exam is taken online, 120 minutes allowed. There is no practical assessment at Full licence level.
What does the Full licence add?
Maximum transmit power increases to 1000 W PEP on primary band allocations (400 W on some secondary allocations). You gain full access to all amateur frequency allocations. Your callsign changes to an M0 prefix (England) or regional equivalent. You become eligible for CEPT reciprocal operating across Europe.
What is CEPT and why does it matter?
CEPT Recommendation T/R 61-01 allows Full licence holders to operate temporarily in any participating European country without applying for a local licence. You use your UK callsign with the host country's prefix. Foundation and Intermediate licences carry no CEPT entitlement.
Is there a practical assessment?
No. The Full licence exam is written only. There has never been a practical component at Full licence level.
How long do I have access?
Lifetime access. Watch at your own pace, re-watch before your exam.
